Griffin Motor Club 2011 Presentation Night
This was my first time at a Griffin presentation evening and I can say that it was a great success, it was very good to meet old friends and now new friends.
There was at least thirty odd people there, which did not fill up the room but made it comfortable enough with room to move around and speak to various people.
A big thanks to all the people at the hotel for catering the evening with both hot and cold food, the buffet had enough food to feed a small army with plenty of food remaining at the end of the night.
The presentation started with Mike giving a speech and thanking all involved with the sport over the last year. The trophys were of a connecting rod and cylinder design on a wood plinth engraved with the appropriate name plates.
There were trophys for Junior Marshalls and Senior Marshalls.
Trophys for Navigators and for Drivers.
Presenting the Marshlls awards first, Mike awarded the junior marshalls trophys, these went to Waynes two grandchildren and it was great to see up and coming youngsters getting into the sport.
Once the marshalls trophys had been awarded we had a break for the buffet and beer.
Mike after the break then awarded the trophys for navigators and for drivers.
Gareth Short, because of illness could not be there, picked up the award for best navigator, a big cup on a nice plinth.
Top award for drivers went to Richard Merriman who last year won the Welsh Tarmac Championship and now the Griffin Championship.
